Stamped
Patterns
Stamps provide an interesting way to create repeating
patterns on floorcloths. Stars, pineapples, and other interesting shapes
are repeated using a traditional stamping technique. Stamps are designed
and cut at the studio. Motifs are carefully cut
out of poly foam and are mounted on blueboard for a light, durable version
of the old wooden block prints. The stamps are painted and then pressed
onto the canvas surface, leaving a textured image on the background color.
These stamps create a soft, handmade pattern giving an
overall texture which works very well with period furnishings.
Add sponging for an aged effect and a border to define
the space.

Stenciled
Designs
Stenciled patterns in a wide variety of colors applied
to a lighter background create traditional designs which are fitting in
all kinds of rooms. At Canvasworks, new stencils
are cut for each stenciled floorcloth project. This allows us to make
them to any size and work them into the geometry of the design. Designing
is our forte and we are always open to new stencil-design ideas. We specialize
in creating repeating patterns and stencils are an essential ingredient
for that process. Stencil design possibilities are endless. Suggest any
motif for Canvasworks to develop.
