Why are these prices higher than most other floorcloth vendors?

When you purchase a Canvasworks Floorcloth, you are investing in a piece of art. Lisa Curry Mair has been perfecting the traditional skills of floorcloth making for over 13 years and has learned from every one of the over 600 floorcloths she has made. Each piece has a carefully sewn hem (most other floorcloth producers glue their hems). The canvas used is the heaviest canvas available. For pieces under 7 feet wide, #8 (18 oz.) canvas is used. For larger pieces #4 (24 oz.) canvas is used. If you're shopping around, ask the other maker what weight canvas they are using. The heavier the canvas, the greater the durability and the flatter they will lay on the floor.

Each Canvasworks floorcloth is made to each customer's specifications. No canvas is cut until the order is placed. This means that your floorcloth will be made when you order it. It will be shipped within 2 weeks of the time the final coat of polyurethane is applied, allowing much greater flexibility of the piece. Other maker's floorcloths may have been made months or years ago and may crack when rolled for shipping.
